How old am I in years, months, and days — not just “32”?

Age for forms is usually completed years, but insurance, schools, and “you must be 21 on this date” questions care about the exact birthday boundary. This page counts from the birth date you enter to today (or to another date) in years, leftover months, and leftover days, using real calendar months — not “divide days by 365.”

Leap days and month lengths

Someone born Feb 29 is often treated as March 1 in non-leap years for “age as of” rules, but jurisdictions differ. This calculator follows ordinary date arithmetic in your browser. For a legal cutoff (license, drinking age, contest), the issuing agency’s rule wins.

How do I calculate my age in years and months?
Enter your date of birth and, optionally, the date you want your age calculated as of (it defaults to today). The calculator subtracts your birth date from that date using calendar-aware math, borrowing from months and years the same way you would by hand, so it correctly handles different month lengths and leap years.
How many days until my next birthday?
The calculator works out the next occurrence of your birth month and day from the 'as of' date. If that date has already passed this year, it looks at next year's occurrence instead, and shows the number of days remaining.
Can I use this as an age calculator by date of birth for someone else?
Yes. The calculator doesn't ask for a name or any personal details beyond a date of birth, so you can use it to check anyone's age, plan a birthday, or verify an eligibility cutoff.
How old am I calculator - is it accurate?
Yes. Instead of dividing total days by 365 (which drifts because of leap years), the calculator counts complete years, then complete months within the remaining time, then remaining days — the same method used on official forms and identity documents.
What happens if I was born on February 29 (leap day)?
Leap-day birthdays are handled correctly for the years/months/days breakdown. For the 'next birthday' countdown, in non-leap years JavaScript rolls February 29 forward to March 1, so the calculator will show your next birthday landing on March 1 in those years.
Does this tool count today as a full day?
The 'as of' date defaults to today at midnight, and total days lived is the whole number of days between your birth date and that date. It won't show a fractional day for 'today' — it simply counts complete calendar days.
Can I calculate age as of a future or past date instead of today?
Yes. Fill in the optional 'Age as of' field with any date — past or future — to see what your age was, or will be, on that date. This is useful for checking age-based eligibility on a specific cutoff date.
Why does my age in months look different from years × 12?
The 'Total Months' figure in the breakdown table already accounts for partial calendar months correctly (for example, 25 years and 2 months is shown as 302 total months), which can differ slightly from a naive years × 12 estimate if you were rounding days elsewhere.
